About Me

I had a long career in journalism and government service, but retirement never meant abandoning a consuming interest in history, politics, philosophy, and the evolving human experience.  A graduate of Temple University, my career included writing for two metropolitan daily newspapers, the Baltimore Evening Sun and the News American, both of which went to the grave of most evening papers in the age of television news.  I then worked 12 years in congressional staff positions, including assignments to the House Budget Committee and the Joint Economic Committee, and eight years as a press officer for a government agency.  I have written two collections of political essays, a short novel, and a study of the life and works of an Irish poet.  My wife and I have a son and daughter, three granddaughters, and a great grandson.
